My craft room-to- be (or the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly!!!)

First, a typical little boy's bedroom, that a teenager has grown out of!! Don't you just love the carpet, and the fake pine desk!!!! Now that was the 'Bad' !
Would you like to see the 'Good' ?

Like me, I'm sure that most of you love looking through Home & Interior magazines, catalogues such as Laura Ashley, and Cath Kidston, also the lovely blogs around, to get inspiration for your own homes. To sit with the latest mag, and a cuppa, is heaven indeed.

This first pic is from the summer Laura Ashley catalogue. I really love the look of the shabby cream painted furniture, and the bold, contrasting red gingham, and floral fabrics, and you don't have to spend a fortune.

A tin of undercoat, eggshell, and some sandpaper can transform car boot, junkshop, and local tip finds. Red gingham is inexpensive to buy, and other red floral or ticking fabrics, can be used with it. It's good to see plants as an accent to it, the green looks really fresh, and 'lifts' the whole colour scheme.

I love this cute little girl's room too. Really girly, and pretty. That quilt is beautiful!! Those flowers would be easy to stencil on the wall, and the bedroom furniture could quite easily be old items, transformed with paint again. A lovely touch, is the bunting, which can be cheaply made from scraps of left over fabric

This one, well, it almost makes you want to iron!! ( I did say almost!!!!) This is very inspirational, and shows what can be done with a metre or so of pretty floral fabric.

Now, after all this interior prettiness, I want to show you something not so pretty!! SHOCK HORROR!!!!!!! Here is the 'Ugly'!!

My spare room, which is going to be my craft room. It was Callum's room since he was around two. When big sis left home. he moved into her larger room, and his room, was a junk room for a while. It only measures about 9 feet x 7 feet, so we had a loft bed in there to give him more space.

The junk has gone, the Harry Potter border has been stripped. I now need to sell the loft bed to someone. It looks empty, cold, and like a prison cell at the moment!!
This is the room that will be my craft room. I can't wait to see it transformed!! Although it is small, it is a bright sunny little room, and it will be fantastic to have my sewing machine in here, my fabric, and all my craft bits....not forgetting a little hifi I have , to provide music while I work. I so want to see it 'prettied up', and say goodbye to the horrible yellow, and blue! It is something I have wanted for years, my own little craft den. Quite a bit of work needs doing, and I thought it would be interesting to share the transformation with you!!
WATCH THIS SPACE !!!!

It's really exciting for you! You'll love it!
I got my own craft room about two years ago, having moved boxes of craft stuff here there and everywhere depending on which of my children were away at Uni so I could use their rooms to store it all...a nightmare, especially when they were both at home.
Good luck with the decorating.
I'm sure you'll do a fab job!

I'd love a craft room. I keep talking of booting my little girl out of her room and into the larger spare room. Bill isn't keen, mainly because then we'd have nowhere to put MIL when she stays over....well, I'm not stupid!!!!!

shame though, because I have it already decorated in my mind. One day.
Have fun turning your room into a girly froth of crafty gorgeousness :O) xx

Ooh yeah, that is going to be brilliant! I'm sure it will look totally different with a coat of less bright paint on the walls. I am soooo envious, it's the perfect size for a craft room!

Thanks for your comment on my blog. Yes, looks like we're both prettifying. Our bedroom has needed serious work as my hubbie lived in this house for four years on his own before I moved in last year. I'm slowly trying to turn it into a cosy cottage! Not that it's actually a cottage unfortunately! Look forward to seeing how your work room turns out.

AS you say, it's amazing how quickly you will transform that room just by painting all the furniture and adding pretty fabrics. I buy gingham polycotton which is dirt cheap (about £2.99 a metre) and swear by it. Ok, it's not suitable for covering furniture but I use it to back all my cushions and you cn use it for thin decorative curtains.

Re ice cream recipe, do you have an ice cream maker (you need one for the recipe). If so, I will dig out the recipe for - it came with my ice cream maker. It' in US cups if that's OK?
