Something I have been meaning to do for ages!!!
I have always wanted to do some furniture makeovers, but never seem to get round to it. Over the last couple of weeks I have found two lovely pieces that need a little TLC from me, and they didn't cost a fortune!!
The first is the little oak Barley twist tea trolley above. A little scratched & past it's best, but a great piece to makeover. Can't wait to see it holding pretty vintage china, tea & cakes!!!
Here is the next stage, in my garage with a coat of primer. I want to paint it a cream colour & distress it a bit. Looking forward to finding some lovely oilcloth to cover the shelves with : )
The next find was this cute little table. ( I seem to be having a run of Barley twist at the moment!! Haven't decided on how to decorate this yet, but will show you when it's finished! Any ideas, anyone?
This lovely old cupboard was found at a vintage fair I did. This is not a makeover. Lots of people asked about it, but this is definitely a 'keeper' - I love it!!! It even came with the little pine shelves on the table too : ) I hope to move next year, so want to put it up in my new home : )
For the present , it has accompanied me to the Warkton Village Craft Market , and I will use it to display at vintage fairs too!! It's certainly earning it's keep!!
I love furniture, and especially when it's vintage, a good price, and ripe for a makeover.
Watch this space!!!!!

We used to have Sunday tea on that trolly when I was a kid. Sandwiches, Marmite on toast fingers, and poss some bought little cakes.
Hi,love all your finds they look fab.Love Jill xx
Thanks for sharing the photos from your village fair stand. I am attending the Frankfurt craft fair this Saturday and was looking for ideas for the table display. Also your painted furniture turned out really well. My husband had a go at our kitchen cabinet a while ago, and his matt paint turned out to be shiny :-)...I am still waiting for the matt finish.
I'll give you a tip - if you want to distress, you don't need to prime. :-) Saves huge amounts of time too.
You are good at finding 'finds'!
Like the makeovers, looking forward to seeing the finished products...

Oh you are a clever gal love the make overs thanks for sharing
How nice that you found two complimentary pieces! Very good job on the makeovers!!!
What a surprise, I was talking to a friend the other over how I regretted leaving my little table behind when we left the UK, I checked out your blog and there is the exact barley twist table. Mine had a shelf that fitted over the bottom cross pieces. Yours didn't have childish drawings under the table did it LOL, you have done exactly what I would have done with it if I had kept it. It was in my bedroom for years at home and went with me when I moved, I was given it in the mid sixties and it came from an old house then so there must be a fair age to it
Sharon, you are my giveaway winner!! will you email me your address please - i know i have it somewhere, but just to make sure its right, thanks xxx
Wonderful finds. I can't wait to see the finished project.
Hope you've got lots of lovelies with you tomorrow at the fair!
Look forward to having a natter!

Hello! Thanks for posting on my blog. I was there on Saturday and I think I bought from you, I definitely came home with one of your cards, I think you sold me the little yellow (Grindley if I remember rightly) jug. Thanks for keeping me posted re other dates of local fairs, I think I'm addicted.

I have a tea-trolley like that in our garage - maybe I should do the same. Great blog btw.
Oh such lovely things - your cushions are fab - and love the trolly - - so wish I could go to Jersey too - - thanks for comments over at Appletree - seriously though - remember you see the best bits - perhaps I should do a reality post and show you the many bad bits!
You are of course welcome anytime!

Weirdly, I have an identical barley twist square table and trolley, both in dark wood, that I inherited from my grandparents.
I was thinking of doing something to bring them up to date and this brilliant post has shown me just how great they could look! Thanks for sharing :-)
